Everything in my life changed when I became pregnant with my first baby, of course, but I was yet to know just how much - and soon after he was born birth became my greatest passion, and birthwork my calling… cheesy but true!

I began my first pregnancy utterly clueless about birth. I assumed it was just an awful but necessary thing to have to endure. That I would have to ‘leave my dignity at the door’ and get on with it.

I feel so fortunate that I found out about Hypnobirthing through a friend a few months in. I looked into it and read people’s experiences. I’d never heard birth being described in those words; joyful, romantic, empowering… I booked us on a course, despite my partner Bill’s raised eyebrows.

Well, it was entirely transformative for both Bill and I, in different ways. We soaked in the education, options and guidance we’d been given; we practiced, felt relaxed, informed and excited. Our mindset had totally shifted. Bill became a Hypnobirthing evangelist (and continues to be). We went on to have a magical, joyful, confident birth with our son Luca.

I felt like we’d be let into some kind of secret of what birth could be. After his birth I felt like I could do anything - and those life-changing newborn months were pretty dreamy.

But I came to realise that my experience wasn’t really a typical one. When half the world’s population are likely to do it, why does it seem a positive birth experience so hard to come by? It doesn’t make sense from an evolutionary perspective that so many people are having such negative birth experiences.

In 2019 I had my daughter Freida. She was born at home and arrived slightly before our midwife did. Both my births, whilst being different and presenting their own challenges, have been hugely positive, life-enhancing experiences for me and have changed the very fabric of my being.

I am a proud instructor with The Birth Uprising, an incredible troop of modern, inclusive teachers, bringing Hypnobirthing to everyone who needs it.

I completed my doula training with the amazing Kaz Woodbury at Continuum Doulas and I am delighted to be a recognised doula with Doula UK , the leading organisation for doulas in the UK.

Being a Continuum Doula means I offer a deeply personalised package, ensuring continuity and close support throughout your whole journey into parenthood.

I hope to be able to help you look forward to the birth of your baby, and have the powerful, joyful experience you deserve.

I live in Bath, Somerset with my husband Bill, our son Luca, daughter Freida and cats - Olive and Scout.

To change the world, we must first change the way babies are being born.
